Synopsis:::
Sankranti is a serious social drama that is based on the complicated story of the Dutta family. A zamindari joint family that is broken apart and somehow re-joined back in bits and pieces and all the struggles related to familial relationships, society, business over peace and others, make up this brilliantly scripted and directed movie. It deals with the themes of nationalism, caste and social groups and their context for stigma, the problems of the turn of the century, volatile human emotions and the gifts of being true and good. The movie has a lot of character and plot development, many twists and turns, and essential dramatic high points that will keep you at the edge of your seat. The movie ends on a happy note, where evil is reckoned with and all is in balance, for good will always better evil.
