Synopsis:::
‘Shri Jagannath’ is the story of how Lord Jagannath’s worship started in this world. After Lord Krishna’s death his navel kept floating in the sea and reappeared in the form of a tree before Indradyumna. Indradyumna had sent Brahmin Vidyapati in search of Neel Madhav, the idol of the lord. Vidyapati found the idol being worshipped by tribal Sabar king Bishwa Basu. He fell in love with his daughter and married her. When he brings back Indradyumna to the idol it vanishes and reappears in the form of the tree trunk. Indradyumna, Vidyapati and Bishwa Basu carry the tree to the temple on their heads and it’s given form by an old Brahmin. But the idol remains incomplete as Indradyumna opened the temple door before the time mentioned by the old man. He then travels to the divine land and brings Brahma back with him to inaugurate and install the first ever concrete form of Lord Vishnu.
